Hello, I’m Pari!
I’m a writer and Northwestern University graduate.
I pursued a double major in Communication Studies and Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing to cultivate a multifaceted, comprehensive writing skillset. I now use my storytelling abilities as an editorial contributor for Homegrown, one of India’s most prominent independent digital media companies.
I am a people person, a lover of the arts, and a proponent of social justice, eager to use my creative talents to spark positive change.

Born in New Delhi, raised in Manila, and having pursued my higher education in the United States, my global background plays a fundamental role in who I am today. Growing up, I attended an international school and remained engaged with the international community through my involvement, and later presidency, in Northwestern’s International Student Association. This has allowed me to remain connected to my home cultures while also expanding my understanding of people from around the globe. As a result, these experiences have undoubtedly nurtured my adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and ability to connect with others.

Over the summer of 2022, I worked as a copywriting and marketing intern for the Filipino recruitment consultancy John Clements Consultants Inc. I worked directly with their head of marketing to copywrite social media content, advertisements for consulting services, and blog posts to increase search engine optimization. Through this experience, I gained an understanding of how to work within a large-scale company, corresponding with different departments and higher-ups to surpass expectations. I left this position with a thorough knowledge of how to craft content of different forms– whether it be an Instagram reel, a LinkedIn+ post, or a thousand-word article– to gain the widest exposure possible.
I was also a pop culture, beauty, and lifestyle content writer for the Indian media firm, Pinnacle CONNECT. During my time at Pinnacle CONNECT, I worked closely with a team of editors and went on to publish 25+ articles.

I worked as an editor for the latest editions of two textbooks: Theatre: A Lively Art and Living Theatre. I was tasked with the responsibility of contributing additional content on international theatre practices and revising the pre-existing content to ensure inclusive, refined language and factual consistency. The process of combing through each chapter, searching for errors or areas for improvement, taught me how to be a meticulous, sharp-eyed writer and editor.
My editing skills have been further enhanced over the past two years by my work as a Writing Consultant at Northwestern’s Writing Place. At the Writing Place, undergraduates, graduate students, alumni, and professors come to me for assistance regarding anything and everything to do with writing. From law school personal statements to biochemistry theses, final history papers to product pitches, this job has given me a holistic editing skill set, where I am confident in my ability to work with the majority of writing mediums and subjects.

My academic endeavors have provided me with a solid research foundation, which I expanded upon through my independent research endeavors. I spent the summer of 2023 researching generative AI tools and their potential applications in academia.
The core focus of my research was on generative AI’s efficacy as a writing tool. I explored this by comparing the outputs of tools such as GPT-3 to my writing. I considered the entirety of the writing process, from brainstorming to making final revisions, and evaluated how AI could help or hinder students. I also assessed AI tools that are not writing-oriented, such as Elicit AI for research purposes and DALL-E for photo generation. I examined how they could be used for projects beyond just writing papers, and specifically looked into how they could be used by engineering students during their design process.
My findings were then used by a group of professors to guide academic integrity policies going forward.
